The premier Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow today announced the launch of a fresh MBA programme to nurture startups and groom entrepreneurs.
The proposed MBA (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) programme will be launched from August 2023, IIM Lucknow said here.
The course, according to the Institute, aligns with Prime Minister’s vision “to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit of India through programmes like ‘Make in India’ and NEP – New Education Policy’s focus on developing entrepreneurial competencies in students.”
It will provide prospective entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and industry exposure to launch and operate a venture that will solve a significant problem or deliver on a significant opportunity.
IIM Lucknow Director Prof Archana Shukla said, “IIM Lucknow has developed an entrepreneurial ecosystem with our two successful incubators. The new MBA program leverages and strengthens the ecosystem. The program is unique as we bring in admission and curriculum philosophy that is based on skills development and aims at unleashing the entrepreneurial spirit.”
The new MBA (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) course will follow a curriculum based on Entrepreneurial Knowledge and Skills (50%) and Industry Inputs, Immersion and Mentorship (50%).
She said the candidates need to demonstrate entrepreneurial experience and inclination during the admission process. The application process begins online on Dec 19, 2022.
These courses would be multi-disciplinary, covering all areas of management and allied fields
Course content, cases, exercises and materials will be aligned to and relevant to entrepreneurial ventures at the start up stage.
The course will be delivered through concurrently running workshops, a mentorship programme with alumni entrepreneurs, shadowing opportunities and experiential learning.
The candidates will also have the following options: (a) Mentored by a pool of IIM Lucknow entrepreneur alumni (more than 600) to gain practical experience; (b) Guidance for preparation of a business plan, working with venture capitalists to refine it, obtain funding and preparing for launch; (c) Visiting an IIML partner institution abroad for immersion in an international entrepreneurial environment; (d) Visit and work with IIML’s two incubators or partner incubator for immersion.

An aspirant for the MBA (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline as per the requirements of eligibility of Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs, a communiqué said.
