The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 in Uttar Pradesh will showcase ‘Brand UP’ at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January 2024.

The UP delegation would be led by state finance minister Suresh Khanna and industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ apart from senior officials.

The World Economic Forum meeting is scheduled at Davos during 15-19 January 2024.

After coming to power in March 2017, the Yogi government has spurred the pace of economic and industrial development in the state.

The state is dexterously tapping national and international platforms to pitch slew of sectors for attracting investment and positioning UP as a growing economic power.

World Economic Forum is one of the most prestigious global events, and UP’s participation will provide an opportunity to showcase its strengths, attributes and achievements on a global scale.

It will give a platform to interact with influential decision makers at the international level. The state delegation will apprise the global audience of the steps being taken to achieve the goal of making UP a $trillion economy by 2027.

The state is focussing on sectors such as manufacturing, IT and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Services), religious tourism, agriculture, energy, health, urban development, education, food processing and MSMEs to achieve its goal.

Preparations are underway to make Lucknow as India’s first ‘AI City’. A detailed action plan has been prepared by identifying different sectors and emphasis is being laid on completing it within the stipulated time.

World Economic Forum is an international organisation for public-private cooperation. It engages society’s leading political, business, cultural and other leaders to shape the global, regional and industrial agenda.

The Forum provides an opportunity to interact with distinguished individuals, participate in high-level discussions and exchange knowledge on critical matters shaping the global economy, as well as promote innovation and sustainable practices.

It unites the world’s political, business, cultural decision makers who work together on projects that can bring positive change in society.

In recent years, the focus of the World Economic Forum has been on climate change. The platform encourages world leaders to jointly work in areas such as energy, climate and nature, investment, trade and infrastructure, frontier technologies and industry, employment, skill development, health and political cooperation.
