In the health sector, Uttar Pradesh has set another benchmark for the peer states to emulate.

Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, the state surpassed 8 million registrations for OPD through Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA).

The feat reflects the efficacy of awareness campaigns and active engagement of people, spearheaded by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

Now, UP leads Andhra Pradesh which holds the second position with 4.5 million registrations followed by Karnataka 3.5 million, Jammu and Kashmir 3.3 million and Delhi 1.8 million.

ABHA is an initiative by the National Health Authority (NHA). It is a health savings account introduced under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

It is designed to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections for their healthcare needs.

In addition, with ABHA, citizens can store their medical and health records in a centralised account and access it through their unique ABHA ID.

ABHA ID is a unique 14-digit identification number linked with the citizen’s Aadhaar or mobile number. It helps in digitally storing all their information and facilitates access to it. This includes their health history, consultation details, medical records, and prescriptions.
