The enforcement agencies including Uttar Pradesh Police have been conducting raids for holding free and fair 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Apart from police, these agencies include the departments of Income Tax, Excise and Narcotics.
So far, the state police have confiscated 535 licensed weapons of individuals with criminal records, while the licenses of 4,694 weapons were revoked.
To prevent potential disturbances, the authorities issued notices under the CrPC to restrict the movements of nearly 2.6 million individuals.
Furthermore, the police seized 8,317 unlicensed weapons; 8,384 cartridges; 2.9 tonnes of explosives; and 455 bombs.
Nearly 3,559 illegal arms manufacturing units were raided and 157 establishments sealed.
