Uttar Pradesh is bracing up for organising ‘green & smart’ Mahakumbh in the holy city of Prayagraj during Jan-Feb 2025.

Taking the agenda forward, UP chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra today chaired a workshop of senior officials to strategise for the gargantuan event, which occurs every 12 years.

UP additional chief secretary, agriculture, Devesh Chaturvedi highlighted the importance of disaster management, air ambulance, public transport as well as adhering to the deadlines of infrastructure projects.

UP principal secretary, tourism/culture, Mukesh Meshram stressed the need to promote religious circuit and spiritual tourism.

Meanwhile, Mishra issued guidelines for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene during Mahakumbh 2025.

UP principal secretary, urban development, Amrit Abhijat outlined the scale of the Mahakumbh Mela spanning 4,000 hectares and featuring 67,000 street lights, 1,500 signage boards, surveillance by 2,300 cameras and amenities such as AI-based chatbot, 2,000 tents, and 25,000 public accommodations and 30 pontoon bridges.

Nearly 150,000 saplings will also be planted to support environmental conservation efforts.
