Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath today said the state had stolen the march over China in the domestic gifting products market especially during festivals.
Yogi said the state was gaining sizeable traction to its range of traditional and indigenous products being promoted and marketed under the flagship One District One Product (ODOP) scheme.
Highlighting global recognition of UP’s Pradesh’s traditional products, He underlined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly presents ODOP products to world leaders during his foreign visits.
“This elevates the prestige of the state’s skilled artisans. The ODOP items are now replacing Chinese-made products in terms of popularity during festivals and events,” the CM noted.
Meanwhile, Yogi Inaugurated the 45th edition of the 4-day International Carpet Fair at Carpet Expo Mart in Bhadohi district.
“The artisans and craftspeople are our greatest assets. The ODOP scheme and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana have played a pivotal role in boosting UP’s exports, which witnessed a manifold increase in just four years,” he added.
The carpet industry’s exports are to the tune of Rs 17,000 crores annually with a substantial 60 percent emanating from three districts of UP viz. Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and Varanasi.
Yogi referred to the abundant skilled craftsmen in UP even as he emphasized that their potential was hindered due to a lack of technology and platforms.
