The merchandise exports from Uttar Pradesh have touched the level of Rs 1.74 trillion due to proactive government policies, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has said.

“Owing to the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the products of UP are becoming popular in India and abroad. UP is emerging as a growth engine of India,” Yogi said yesterday after inaugurating the UP Pavilion at the 42nd India International Trade Fair 2023 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

He waxed eloquent on UP’s flagship One District One Product (ODOP) scheme for boosting the shipments. ODOP is aimed at reviving the traditional and indigenous industries and handicrafts of UP, and market them nationally and internationally.

“When the Global Investors Summit (GIS) was organised in February 2023 at Lucknow, investment proposals worth Rs 38 trillion were received,” he remarked.

Yogi noted UP performed well in the last 5-6 years at the India International Trade Fair even as he hoped the state could bag the Golden Trophy for the second year in a row.

In the last six years, he said, UP became a revenue surplus state from being a constituent of the eponymous BIMARU state.
