The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has partnered with defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Gliders India Limited for catalysinh healthcare innovation.
Gliders will provide financial and strategic support to IIT Kanpur’s Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), focussing on medtech and healhcare technology.
The two organisations have signed a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agreement for this purpose.
Gliders will mentor startups incubated at SIIC working on advanced medical technologies, digital health solutions, telemedicine applications, and healthcare infrastructure innovations.
The partnership will leverage IIT Kanpur’s technological prowess combined with Gliders’ expertise to develop impactful solutions addressing critical healthcare challenges in India.
Prof Ankush Sharma, Professor-In-Charge of SIIC, IIT Kanpur, noted the collaboration creates an ecosystem for startups to tap into Gliders’ industry experience to translate innovations into real-world impact.
Gliders will network startups with domain experts, industry resources, and market networks, thereby accelerating their growth and commercialization journeys.
V K Tiwari, Chairman and Managing Director of Gliders India, said the pact will harness innovation’s potential and contribute to national well-being by addressing pressing healthcare challenges.
Gliders India Limited is an Indian state-owned defence company, headquartered at Ordnance Parachute Factory, Kanpur. It was established in 2021 as part of the restructuring and corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board into seven different PSUs.
It primarily manufactures military parachutes for the Indian Armed Forces and foreign militaries, and parachutes for aero-sport and emergency services.
