Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has emerged as one of the most popular Indian politicians on micro-blogging site Twitter.
With followers of more than 24 million on Twitter, Yogi leads Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, who command Twitter followers of nearly 2.3 million and 18 million respectively.
According to a UP government spokesperson, Yogi as well as the state government hashtags (#tag) routinely figures among the top trends on Twitter in topics of good governance and other positive attributes.
Recently, a #tag trending on Twitter described the monk-turned-politician as the most favourite CM of India. “His popularity is soaring not only in India, but among the NRI community across the globe as well,” he claimed.
