The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 is looking to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance for greater transparency and efficiency in the public service delivery in Uttar Pradesh.
Taking the agenda forward, the state organised an AI workshop for senior government officials and department heads in Lucknow yesterday.
The focus was to understand how AI could be leveraged to transformer UP into a $trillion economy by 2027.
The workshop provided policymakers and government officials with deep insight into AI governance frameworks, ethical considerations and best practices for responsible AI deployment in government operations.
Meanwhile, AI framework for UP ‘UPAI’ was also unveiled on the occasion, which is expected to guide the development and deployment of AI in an inclusive and responsible manner.
UP chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra directed officials to integrate AI into their vision, planning and routine work flows to increase efficiency and ensure transformative outcomes.
The workshop underlined that AI is tremendously transformative, thereby meaning that it would not only have direct impact on the users, rather it will transform other sectors as well, resulting in exponential growth of the economy.
It is believed UP has the biggest potential for growth in the country and AI could catalyse the journey.
The session emphasised the importance of AI governance in ensuring transparency, accountability and fairness in government decision making process.
The role of AI in driving efficiency, innovation and citizen-centric and service delivery was highlighted, underscoring the need for policymakers to stay abreast of AI advancements and their implications for governance.
Moreover, the workshop featured various applications and use cases of AI across sectors including public service delivery, infrastructure planning, agriculture, education and healthcare.
The workshop concluded with a call to action for senior officials to champion AI governance initiatives within their respective departments and collaborative with industry experts, academia, and civil society to promote responsible AI adoption and innovation in UP.
