Bolstering its green mobility roadmap, the Uttar Pradesh government will develop a robust e-charging infrastructure on major expressways of the state.
These expressways include Bundelkhand Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway.
Nodal agency UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has invited bids from companies to set up 26 e-charging stations on these four expressway projects.
Top renewable energy firms viz. Adani-TotalEnergies, GMR Energy, Reliance and Siemens have evinced interest in partnering with the state in this respect.
In a pre-bid meeting, more than 10 companies including Reliance, GMR Energy, Adani-TotalEnergies, Belectric, Lightzip Technologies, EV Plexus and Siemens had participated.
The government will provide the land to the successful bidder on a 10-year lease for setting up these e-charging stations. After land allotment, the company will have to commence operations within 6 months.
Interestingly, UP tops green mobility with the highest number of registered e-vehicles (EVs) on its roads, which roughly corresponds to 25 percent of total EVs in the country.
