The Uttar Pradesh exchequer is saving almost Rs 10,000 crore annually through Direct Benefit Tansfer (DBT) mechanism.
Under DBT, beneficiary funds are deposited directly into the bank accounts, thus eliminating middlemen and plugging leakages.
About 207 schemes spanning 11 departments pertaining to 113 central and 94 state sponsored schemes, operate under the DBT architecture in UP.
More than 90 million people get payments amounting to Rs 1.11 trillion yearly in UP through DBT transactions, which saves Rs 10,000 crore for the state treasury.
Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently termed DBT as a decisive blow against corruption.
UP also tops the pan India tally in digital transactions with Rs 1,024 crore till December in the current financial year 2024-25 compared to the corresponding figure of Rs 123 crore in 2017-18.
Meanwhile, UP netted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 14,000 during 2017-24 compared to the FDI kitty of Rs 3,300 crore during 2000-17.
