Uttar Pradesh has surpassed last year’s paddy procurement figure by 390,000 tonnes, and reaching 5.77 million tonnes (MT) in the current kharif marketing year 2024-25.
Moreover, the Yogi Adityanath government has disbursed 99 percent of the farmers’ dues amounting to more than Rs 13,326 crore.
This year, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) was fixed by Rs 117 higher at Rs 2,300 and Rs 2,320 per quintal for regular and Grade A paddy respectively.
The state farmers also received Rs 20 per quintal for unloading, sieving and cleaning.
A total of 5.77 MT of paddy was procured from million farmers across 4,339 purchase centers in UP compared to the procurement of about 5.38 MT last year.
In Western UP, procurement was carried out from Oct 1 to Jan 31, while in Eastern UP, the process started on Nov 1 until Feb 28.
Through efficient policies and robust procurement, the Yogi government continues to strengthen the agricultural sector, ensuring timely payments and better returns to farmers, officials said.
