Private carrier Akasa Air will launch direct flights connecting Gorakhpur with Delhi and Bengaluru from May 29.

With Akasa flights, the distance from Gorakhpur to Delhi will be covered in 1 hour and 15 minutes, while the distance from Gorakhpur to Bengaluru will be covered in 2 hours and 35 minutes.

After receiving approval from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), online booking for tickets has already commenced.

According to Akasa Air website, starting May 29, the Gorakhpur-Delhi flight will depart at 1445 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 1600 hrs. Conversely, the Delhi-Gorakhpur flight will depart at 1655 hrs and arrive in Gorakhpur at 1845 hrs.

Similarly, the Bengaluru-Gorakhpur flight will take off at 1115 hrs and arrive in Gorakhpur at 1405 hrs. Conversely, the Gorakhpur-Bengaluru flight will depart at 1920 hrs and land in Bengaluru at 2155 hrs.

Alliance Air and IndiGo have already been operating flights on this route.

Besides, there is hope for soon-to-be-launched Mumbai flight service by Akasa. IndiGo is also preparing to initiate flights between Gorakhpur and Bengaluru in the next two months.

AAI Director R K Parashar said the initiation of flight services by more aviation companies will increase competition in fares, ultimately benefiting passengers.

The increase in air services has brought Gorakhpur closer to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
