The top three Hindu religious tourism hubs in Uttar Pradesh viz. Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura have netted investment of almost Rs 50,000 crore.
It is estimated about 14,000 fresh job opportunities in the tourism and hospitality segments will be created by top 5 projects started in these three places.
These projects, related to tourist centers, wellness centers, hotels etc, were part of the more than 14,000 projects launched at a mega groundbreaking ceremony on February 19 in Lucknow.
Ayodhya accounted for 372 projects worth Rs 13,000 crore, including Abhinandan Lodha House investing Rs 3,000 crore in real estate and commercial projects in the temple town.
PKH Ventures is establishing a tourist facilitation center with Rs 600 crore of investment, which includes a 500-room hotel.
Similarly, Varanasi witnessed 277 projects with a total investment of more than Rs 19,000 crore.
BHEL is investing Rs 500 crore for the establishment of R&D facilities and fabrication, manufacturing and testing facilities for its existing and emerging business areas (mechanical, electrical, electronic products, systems).
Roma Builders and Promoters is starting a mixed development project based on a 5-star resort, meditation with wellness center, fruit farms, clubhouses, and housing societies at an investment of Rs 500 crore.
Meanwhile, Mathura garnered 415 projects worth Rs 16,600 crore. Air Liquide North India is establishing a state-of-the-art air separation unit for industries and hospitals with an investment of Rs 3,075 crore.
