Union transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari said road projects worth Rs 5 trillion would be ready in Uttar Pradesh by the end of 2024.

Gadkari together with defence minister Rajnath Singh and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath gifted development projects worth more than Rs 3,300 crore to the state at a function in Lucknow yesterday.

Praising the leadership of Yogi, Gadkari said the UP CM had given a new vision for the development of the state, which once figured among the most backward states.

“UP was once a sick state…now it is developing under Yogi’s leadership and direction,” Gadkari said addressing a public meeting. He also lauded the improved law and order in the state.

He observed Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned that India must develop into a self-reliant, prosperous and powerful nation with a $5 trillion economy. Our infrastructure needs to meet international standards. I have the privilege of performing works worth Rs 50 trillion in the department over the course of nine years,” he noted.

“I want to assure that by the end of 2024, road projects worth Rs 5 trillion will be completed in UP, while new works will be started,” he stated.
