The premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will mentor the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) on better management.
According to the roadmap charted by UP assembly speaker Satish Mahana, the Vidhan Sabha will solicit suggestions from the IIMs on better house management in wake of technological advancements.
“The role of management has risen in the era of rapid technological development. Therefore, the IIM experts will be invited for offering suggestions for better management of legislative business,” he said addressing a news conference here yesterday.
Mahana has completed one year in office as the Vidhan Sabha speaker. During his tenure, he has taken a slew of measures which are arguably firsts in the legislative history anywhere in India. The 18th UP legislative assembly was constituted on March 11, 2022, and Mahana was unanimously elected as speaker on March 29, 2022.
Meanwhile, several new schemes are also on the anvil in UP Vidhan Sabha including ‘Best Legislator Award’ to be given on the basis of conduct and active participation in the house.
UP legislative assembly is also mulling over amendment and simplification of the ‘Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules of the Legislative Assembly’ and display of photographs of all members in the house.
Besides, the civil construction of the proposed new UP legislature building will start soon, for which a budget of Rs 50 crore has already been earmarked.
