The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 today tabled a supplementary budget of about Rs 33,770 crore in the Uttar Pradesh legislature.
The supplementary budget tops the UP Annual Budget of more than Rs 6.15 trillion, which was tabled on May 26, 2022.
Supplementary Budget is presented for getting a legislative approval for catering the additional expenses during a financial year for various ongoing or new projects and schemes.
The supplementary was tabled by UP finance minister Suresh Khanna on the first day of the winter session of the state legislature.
UP comprises two houses viz. Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly or lower house) and Vidhan Parishad (legislative council or upper house).
Meanwhile, the supplementary budget has sought to provide funds for a gamut of sectors viz. infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, environment, industrial, sports, energy, power, transport, skill development etc.
It aims at financing flagship schemes and projects such as startups/incubators, smart city mission, smartphones/tablets, ecotourism, data centres etc.
Besides, the supplementary budget has allocated funds for organising the proposed UP global investors summit in Lucknow in February 2023, apart from holding a series of G20 meetings in the state.
The revenue and capital heads in the UP supplementary budget consists of nearly Rs 13,756 crore and Rs 20,012 crore respectively.
