Uttar Pradesh is inching closer to hitting the historic mark of 150 million citizen fully inoculated (two doses) with the Covid-19 vaccine.
So far, UP has administered more than 325 million vaccine doses, of which 175 million are first doses, while nearly 150 million people are fully jabbed.
Interestingly, Russia has a total population of almost 150 million. Therefore, the humongous figure of fully vaccinated population in UP is a milestone as a successful vax campaign since the rollout of the mass immunisation drive in January 2021.
In percentage terms, 92 per cent of the adult population in UP is now fully vaccinated, while 100 percent have received at least one dose. UP is trailed by Maharashtra with 167 million doses administered so far.
Meanwhile, 25 million and 9.8 million doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17 and 12-14 years respectively.
In the age category of 15-17 years, 97 percent have received at least one dose, while over 76 percent are fully vaccinated.
To provide an additional protection, UP had started administering booster shots (precaution dose) from January 10, 2022. So far, 3 million ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state.
Meanwhile, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to ensure adequate availability of vaccines, and encourage eligible kids to take the vaccine cover.
The state government is paying special attention towards booster shots to the beneficiaries.
