To promote green mobility, the Uttar Pradesh government will introduce electric vehicle services spanning electric buses and rickshaws in all key tourist destinations.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath emphasised the state’s commitment to fostering green investments and harnessing tourism opportunities.

“The private operators will be encouraged for e-vehicles so that there is no movement of vehicles running on diesel or petrol in tourist places,” he added.

He was speaking at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in his pocket borough of Gorakhpur on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

“This year, the theme of World Tourism Day is ‘Tourism and Green Investment’. This initiative will not only enhance the overall environment but also create an uplifting atmosphere for visitors,” he added.

Yogi stressed upon an elaborate plan so that no electricity is provided by generators, and we should install solar lighting. “Make plans to complete the area’s green energy electrification.”

If we look at India or Uttar Pradesh from the tourism point of view, two primary categories emerge: religious and entertainment. Both types of tourism form a vital part of the ecosystem, with one rooted in faith and the other offering entertainment and information.

He claimed that in the last one year, more than 300 million tourists visited different holy places in UP.

He said in the pious month of Sawan alone, about 20 million devotees made pilgrimages to Baba Vishwanath at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Varanasi.
