The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has been ranked 5th in the ‘Management’ category of the National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) 2025.

With this, the IIM Lucknow has gained 2 places in comparison to rank 7 in NIRF 2024.

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the 10th edition of NIRF rankings today (Sep 4, 2025).

Highlighting the growing importance of quality benchmarks in higher education, Pradhan said from 16 categories last year to 17 this year, the expansion of NIRF Rankings reflects India’s growing diversity in the higher education domain.

A robust ranking framework and accreditation system will enhance competitiveness and play a vital role in nation-building, he noted.

Prof M P Gupta, IIM Lucknow director, said the Institute’s performance in the latest NIRF rankings highlights its commitment to academic excellence.

“IIM Lucknow sees this achievement as a stepping stone toward even greater goals. Our focus remains on advancing high-quality research, fostering industry collaboration, enhancing student experience, and deepening global engagement,” he added.

Launched in 2015, the NIRF rankings are published annually by the union education ministry to assess the quality and performance of higher educational institutions across the country.

The 10th edition of NIRF evaluated institutions under 17 categories, based on parameters including Teaching, Learning, Resource Quality, Research, Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach, Inclusivity, and Peer Perception.
