The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow hosted its 39th convocation ceremony yesterday to award degrees to 811 graduating students.
The degrees were presented by N Chandrasekaran, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIM Lucknow, and Prof Archana Shukla, Director, IIM Lucknow.
Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder & Chairperson, Narayana Health, was the Chief Guest and delivered the convocation address.
Shetty shared insights on the need for innovation and efficiency in traditional industries.
“Many sectors still operate as they did decades ago, and adopting automation, digital solutions, and restructuring can drive progress by improving efficiency and accessibility. While entrepreneurship fosters growth, rigid systems struggle to scale,” he noted.
Chandrasekaran, who is the also the Tata Group chairman, said, “You are stepping into a world of immense opportunities, where rapid advancements in AI, blockchain, and digital technologies are reshaping industries.”
He said India stands at a unique inflection point, with a young, ambitious workforce and growing demand across infrastructure, logistics, and innovation.
“Whether you pursue high-tech sectors, traditional industries, or entrepreneurship, your education at IIM Lucknow will be a strong foundation for success,” he added.
He said the institute’s significant leap in global rankings and the establishment of the Center for Blockchain Technology reflect its commitment to excellence and innovation.
Presenting the Director’s report, Shukla, said the convocation is not just the culmination of years of hard work but the beginning of a journey that will shape the future of business, leadership, and society.
“This year, our faculty and students have made remarkable strides, publishing impactful research, earning top industry accolades, and excelling in global competitions,” she added.
IIM Lucknow, established in 1984, is the 4th in the prestigious IIM family of management schools to be established in India after IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore.
In 2005, IIM Lucknow expanded its area of influence in the realm of management education by becoming the first IIM to set up a satellite campus exclusively for Executive Education at NOIDA in Delhi NCR region.
IIM Lucknow is accredited by AACSB and AMBA while its EQUIS Accreditation is ongoing. The institute features in the prestigious FT -100 Top Global Business schools for both the 2-year Flagship PGP program and One-year IPMX Program.
