Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said UP has the potential to become the ‘growth engine of India’ and that his government was working dexterously to realise the goal.

Addressing the media to highlight the achievements of Yogi government 2.0 in the first 100 days in office, the CM asserted UP was working in a mission mode to align itself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand vision of making India a $5 trillion economy.

“We have identified 10 key sectors to achieve the state’s trillion dollar target. The state government has done its due diligence to draw the roadmap and prepare a holistic blueprint through a participatory mechanism involving both the ministers and senior officials,” he added.

The CM said his government had received overwhelming public support to its development agenda, which was reflected in the stupendous victory of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2022 UP assembly polls.

“Before 2017, UP was associated with dynasties, caste based politics, corruption, riots, anarchy…the state was facing an identity crisis. But, the perception of UP has changed after 2017 and people have reposed trust in the present government,” he claimed.

Yogi underlined the Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) of UP has doubled over the past five years, while the per capita income and the UP Budget size has also increased manifold.

“There is a conducive industrial development climate in UP. Today, UP is on the threshold of becoming a data centre hub of India,” he added.

The CM said the government had laid the foundation of Medical Devices Park in the state, while the concept of flatted factory had been introduced to spur industrialisation and generate jobs for the youth.

“Due to the successful One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, the state is now an export hub of India,” he said adding Modi had launched projects totalling Rs 80,000 crore on June 3, which would generate almost 2.5 million jobs.

Yogi informed the state would distribute 1.7 million smartphones and tablets to meritorious students to promote digital pathways in the state. He said the government had also brought 2.1 million hectares of agricultural area under institutional irrigation to increase farm income.
