Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath today launched a mega tourism campaign from Ayodhya.
The campaign of the union ministry of tourism ‘Dekho Apna Desh – People’s Choice 2024’ invites participation from general public, public representatives and officials to vote for their favorite tourist destination in UP.
Influencers, bloggers, and other contributors have been included in the campaign to maximize its impact and reach.
The participants can also take ‘selfie’ at designated selfie points and upload them to the campaign portal. The individual making the most significant contribution to the campaign will be rewarded.
The goal is to identify the best religious, spiritual, cultural, historical, natural heritage, and places of great tourism interest.
The feedback will guide efforts to develop these locations into world-class tourist destinations.
“UP is establishing a strong presence on the global tourism map. In 2023, the state welcomed over 480 million tourists, which is nearly double the state’s population,” he added.
He noted UP is the land of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and Lord Buddha, and it consistently attracts the highest number of domestic tourists.
“Efforts are ongoing to boost foreign tourist arrivals. Tourist facilities like hotels, eateries, wedding venues etc are being ramped up to offer visitors a unique experience,” he added.
He said a significant progress is also being made to enhance connectivity for boosting tourism.
UP tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the district magistrates and divisional commissioners have been instructed to ensure the success of this campaign.
