To promote the ancient language of Sanskrit, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to recognise young talents through the Sanskrit Talent Search and Sanskrit Study Promotion Scholarship.

The Yogi Adityanath government envisions taking Sanskrit to the masses, and inspiring students and youth towards Sanskrit.

In this context, initiatives are being taken to promote, preserve and celebrate the ancient language.

Meanwhile, the scholarship programme will identify promising Sanskrit scholars through the Sanskrit Pratibha Khoj (Sanskrit Talent Search) examination.

The competition will be conducted in Category A: Students from Classes 6 to 12, and Category B: Graduate and postgraduate students.

The district-level exams will take place during July 5-31, with the online phase during July 20-31.

The divisional-level round is scheduled during August 5-13, followed by online exams during September 10-20, and then the state-level competition.

It includes a variety of events, with Category A: Sanskrit Song, Sanskrit General Knowledge, Shlok-Antyakshari, memorization of Ashtadhyayi, Amarkosh, Laghusiddhantakaumudi, and Tark Sangrah, and Category B: Sanskrit General Knowledge, Sanskrit Speech, and Dictation.

Former President of the UP Sanskrit Sansthan, Vachaspati Mishra, emphasised the initiative is pivotal in connecting youth with Sanskrit.

At the state level, winners will receive: First Prize Rs 11,000; Second Prize Rs 7,000; Third Prize Rs 5,000; and three Consolation Prizes of Rs 3,000 each.

In addition, all participants will receive certificates, mementoes and travel reimbursement at the divisional and state stages.
