UP to bolster skilling for Industry 4.0UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh has earned Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection of about Rs 20,798 crore in the first quarter (Q1) (Apr-June) of the current financial year 2025-26.

Meanwhile, the Value Added Tax (VAT), which is levied on petroleum products, kitty amount to Rs 7,060 crore in Q1.

This way, UP’s tax revenue touched almost Rs 27,858 crore in the first quarter of FY26, according to UP finance minister Suresh Khanna.

In addition, the UP excise revenue logged Rs 14,229 crore during Apr-June 2025, thus reporting almost 99 percent of the Q1 target of Rs 14,400 crore for the UP excise department.

The non-tax UP stamp and registration department collection during Apr-June 2025 touched Rs 8,353 crore, while the state transport department earned Rs 2,914 crore.

The UP energy department earned Rs 762 crore, while the land revenue kitty stood at Rs 72 crore during the Q1 period.

As such, the total tax and non-tax revenue kitty of the state in Q1 amounted to more than Rs 54,000 crore in the current financial year.

In the UP Annual Budget 2025-25, the Yogi Adityanath government has estimated total receipts of Rs 7.79 trillion, including revenue receipts of Rs 6.62 trillion and capital receipts of Rs 1.16 trillion.

The share of tax revenue in revenue receipts during the current financial year 2025-25 has been pegged at Rs 5.5 trillion, including its own tax revenue of Rs 2.95 trillion and the state’s share in central taxes at Rs 2.55 trillion.

The growing network of expressways is also boosting the socioeconomic landscape of UP, which is aspiring to become a $1 trillion economy.
