Doing business in Uttar Pradesh is now faster, simpler and more transparent than ever!

Under the stewardship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sweeping reforms under the UP Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 have transformed the state into a business-friendly hub.

The introduction of an automated registration system allows traders to register their businesses within a single day, without human intervention or need for annual renewals.

This is a major stride in UP’s journey toward becoming a key driver in the vision of a ‘New India’.

Additionally, establishments without employees are now completely exempt from registration, benefitting small businesses and self-employed individuals directly.

To boost the IT sector, the state government has allowed round-the-clock operations for startups, BPOs and software companies — provided they adhere to required safety norms — helping UP emerge as a competitive digital economy hub.

In a bid to increase female workforce participation, the government has allowed women to work night shifts, subject to compliance with transportation and security provisions.

Between August 2022 and March 2023 (FY 2022–23), 27,014 units were registered in UP.

In FY 2023–24, registrations rose to 44,091 units; while in FY 2024–25, 45,551 units were registered.

These numbers reflect not just the momentum in business activity but also a remarkable rise in the state revenue.

With such progressive reforms, UP is keenly establishing itself among the leading business-friendly states in India.
