To boost its $trillion economy vision, the Uttar Pradesh government will develop the expressways as corridors of industrial growth.
Taking the agenda forward, the state is planning to acquire 13,240 acres near five major expressway projects for industrial and logistics hubs.
These expressways are Bundelkhand Expressway, Ganga Expressway (under-construction), Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway.
The UP government has proposed to set up Industrial Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) on both sides of the five expressways.
In all, 27 industrial nodes spanning 13,240 acres flanking the five expressways will be developed.
So far, about 9,800 acres have already been acquired by the state government, while acquisition for the remaining land parcelsis underway.
Earlier, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said expressways are the backbone of the state’s economic growth and job creation.
Under IMLCs, the investors will get plots at attractive land rates, logistics amenities, seamless connectivity of road, rail and air, trained manpower, dedicated infrastructure, transparent land allocation and an amenable industrial ecosystem.
The investors will develop industrial parks on a public private partnership (PPP) model.
UP is also promoting both horizontal and vertical expansion of industries and factories to maximize space utilisation with the concept of flatted factory concept.
