Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) to promote the pharmaceutical sector.
The agreement pertains to the development of Pharma Parks in Lalitpur district in the Bundelkhand region.
As part of this ambitious project, pharma industries will be established across 1,472 acres of land spanning five villages in Lalitpur.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering and Technology (DoPET) at IIT-BHU, Varanasi will be a key knowledge and technology partner in this initiative.
The companies operating within the Pharma Parks will benefit from DOPET’s cutting-edge research, access to skilled human resources, and innovative technological solutions.
The Yogi Adityanath government will encourage companies to employ DOPET students, while special campus placement drives will be organised.
Joint research projects and faculty-industry exchange programs will be rolled out.
This agreement will remain in effect for 5 years, and it can be extended further with mutual consent.
The upcoming pharma parks are being strategically developed to attract national and international pharmaceutical companies and foster a culture of innovation and research in UP.
This agreement is poised to accelerate industrial growth and usher in socio-economic transformation, particularly in underdeveloped regions like Bundelkhand.
It will open up quality employment opportunities for the youth, enabling them to build sustainable careers within their home state.
“This agreement represents a historic milestone in UP’s industrial development. Our vision goes beyond providing land—we are committed to building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready industrial ecosystem,” UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari said.
“We are enthusiastic about this collaboration. DOPET possesses the technical expertise needed to address the complex challenges of the pharmaceutical sector,” IIT-BHU Dean Prof Rajesh Kumar said.
