Uttar Pradesh is planning a mega green drive to plant 350 million saplings during July 1-7 in the state.
As part of the Yogi Adityanath government campaign, more than 520 million saplings have been made available across 1,901 nurseries in UP.
Besides, department-wise plantation targets have been finalised, and the UP forest department is moving swiftly to ensure the campaign’s success.
Deepak Kumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests/Chief Conservator of Forests (Administration), has been anointed the mission director for the 2025 Plantation Campaign.
Moreover, targets for all 18 divisions in UP have also been defined, and nodal officers appointed in each division to oversee the campaign’s effective implementation.
The saplings to be planted include teak, sheesham, fruit (mango, guava), medicinal (drumstick-neem), fodder and ornamental (siras, amaltas),environmental (peepal, banyan) etc.
The departments entrusted with the task of plantations include forest, environment and climate change, rural development, agriculture and panchayati raj.
