The Uttar Pradesh government is fostering the skilling of manpower to cater the growing needs of the modern industrial landscape.
With the concept of Industry 4.0 catching up, the Yogi Adityanath will align its skilling template accordingly for jobs.
Under the roadmap, the state is partnering with the private sector majors and skilling firms to train the youth in modern trades.
UP will invest close to Rs 8,350 crore for skilling. So far, UP has already invested Rs 5,000 crore to upgrade 150 government ITIs in collaboration with the Tata Technologies Limited (TTL).
Now, the state is looking to invest an additional Rs 3,350 crore to upgrade another batch of 62 ITIs.
Industry 4.0 refers to the integration of digital technologies into manufacturing and industrial processes to cater the needs of the modern industrial ecosystem.
It encompasses an array of technologies spanning industrial IoT (internet of things), AI, big data, robotics, automation etc.
Since 2017, the Yogi government has established 60+ new government ITIs, with more than 184,000 youth getting skill training in 82 trades across a total 324 government ITIs in the state.
UP has introduced new trades and short-term courses in the 150 upgraded ITIs with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore. These institutes are training nearly 15,000 youth every year.
Over the last eight years, over 1.4 million youth have been trained under this mission, of which 565,000 have secured employment or self-employment.
At present, training is being conducted in 350 courses with the support of 1,000+ training partners.
To connect trainees with industries, a system of flexi training partners has been introduced, and so far, 33 industrial units have been onboarded.
UP is also planning to launch the ‘Videsh Kamgar Kaushal Prashikshan Sevayojan Yojana’ to facilitate overseas employment.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, 120,000 traditional artisans have received skill training, and beneficiaries being provided interest-free loans of Rs one lakh.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme, internships for 2,500 youth have been initiated in 500 reputed companies, providing each intern with a monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000.
