Uttar Pradesh is making tall strides in skill development with the proposal to set up 250 new industrial training institutes (ITIs).

UP principal secretary Hariom has proposed to the Centre, the allocation of 250 new ITIs for UP under the central government’s 1000 ITI Upgradation Scheme.

Additionally, the Yogi Adityanath government is targetting to train 100,000 youth under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

Hariom said UP has already trained over 100,000 artisans under the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana.

He stressed that the number of such artisans could increase manifold if the training target were directly assigned to the UP Kaushal Vikas Mission.

A recent meeting between the central and UP governments also explored opportunities to equip youth with language training to enhance their employability in global markets.
