UP logs 650 million tourists in 2024Ayodhya

Ayodhya, the reverred birthplace of Lord Ram, is all set to become an ecotourism hub, drawing visitors from across the globe.

Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board has initiated a project to enhance tourist facilities around Udhaila Lake in Milkipur, with a budget allocation of nearly Rs 4 crore.

Udhaila Lake is famous for migratory birds. To attract travellers and photographers, the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to development an array of tourist facilities in its periphery.

These include kids’ play area, ghats, canteen, cottages, parking, entrance gate, guard room, ticket counter, a viewing mound and a nature trail.

Of late, UP has been gaining prominence on the global tourism map. From January to June this year, 330 million tourists visited the state, with 110 million visiting Ayodhya alone.

“We aim to expand beyond religious and spiritual tourism, with a focus on attracting tourists through ecotourism, rural tourism, and other emerging forms of travel,” UP tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said.

The objective is to offer unique and memorable experiences to tourists. This includes developing vital facilities at tourism destinations and enhancing ecotourism infra as part of a broader initiative to boost the state’s tourism positioning.
