Uttar Pradesh is looking to boost the housing infrastructure in the top urban centres across the state.

The aim is to provide a robust supply of affordable housing units in modern urban townships.

The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 is planning to invest Rs 6,000 crore to develop townships in nearly 18 cities including Agra, Aligarh, Ayodhya, Banda, Bulandshahr, Rampur, Meerut, Kanpur, Jhansi, Moradabad, Mathura, Firozabad and Saharanpur.

These townships will be developed under the UP Township Policy 2023 to provide affordable housing to the different categories of people.

Most of these township projects, to be built under the public private partnership (PPP) mode, are likely to be launched in the next two months.

Each township will span at least 12.5 acres even as the state will provide 50 percent of funds for the land acquisition.

In the township, there would be a provision of 10 percent reservation each for EWS (economically weaker section) and LIG (low-income group).
