With the largest number of international and domestic airports as well as the largest railway network, Uttar Pradesh is all set to become India’s warehousing and logistics hub, industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi said today.
Speaking at a session hosted by the CII in Lucknow, Nandi mentioned warehousing and logistics sector is imperative for the promotion of a gamut of industries and segments.
“Since, UP has the largest network of railways and airports, it has the potential to become the hub of logistics and warehousing sector, and to alter the industrial ecosystem to make the state a $trillion economy,” he noted.
Organised in association with UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the 2nd edition of ‘CII Logistics and Warehousing Summit 2024’ saw the participation from a large number of prominent logistics players.
Shrihari Pratap Shahi, Additional CEO, UPEIDA, highlighted the significant strides made under the UP Warehousing and Logistics Policy 2022.
He emphasised the policy promulgated by the Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 offered several incentives to boost the sector, fostering an environment conducive to growth and innovation.
Akash Goenka, Chairman, CII Northern Region Committee on Food and Dairy & Director Goldiee Group, mentioned UP being India’s one of the largest and most populous state, has immense potential in the sector being a pivotal transit point connecting various regions of the country.
The development of industrial corridors such as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the proposed Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) enhances the state’s logistics network.
Yawar Ali Shah, Panel Convenor of CII Panel on MSME and CEO, AMA Herbals Laboratories, said the sector is the engine propelling the nation’s economic growth and stands as the largest employment provider after MSMEs.
