To protect the interests of home buyers, Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has started the process of training real estate agents.

The training certificate has been made mandatory for agents associated with real estate projects registered with UP RERA.

The training is conducted at India Literacy Board, Lucknow; and National Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET), Gautam Buddha Nagar.

No new agents can be registered without submitting this certificate nor can the registration of agents already registered with RERA be renewed without it.

Per the information from UP RERA, there are 6,715 agents registered with it, of which 4,448 are from the National Capital Region (NCR) and 2,267 from non-NCR.

UP RERA chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy has underlined the imperative of this training as well as consequences of not undertaking it.

He said the training is for the capacity building of agents, and RERA expects that a trained agent would render better services to the home buyers.

Meanwhile, UP RERA is also removing such agents, whose registration has lapsed, from the real estate projects registered with it.

No promoter can now engage such agents for the promotion or sale or purchase of properties, nor can such agents indulge in promotion, sale or purchase of real estate properties.

The agents have to enrol on the UP RERA web portal for undertaking this training.

The Yogi Adityanath government is keen on promoting the real estate and housing sector, and seeking private investment across the state.
