Through the flagship Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented significant measures to generate employment, empower women and boost rural infrastructure.

In the current financial year 2024-25, the UP government has connected more than 6 million rural families with employment opportunities.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasised the importance of creating maximum man-days under MGNREGA so that people get work in their own villages.

MGNREGA has become a powerful tool for both employment generation and the overall development of rural areas in UP.

The scheme covers a wide range of initiatives, including employment, housing, drinking water, women empowerment, irrigation, road construction, and plantation.

Moreover, women in rural UP are benefiting not only from employment opportunities but also from gaining economic independence.

The government has created special opportunities for women to become self-reliant, allowing them to contribute financially to their households.
