The Uttar Pradesh government has spent more than Rs 1,000 crore for youth entrepreneurship and startup projects in the last two years.

The Chief Minister Yuva Udyam Vikas Abhiyan (CM Yuva) scheme, launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is driving a wave of entrepreneurship among UP’s youth.

Aimed at building a self-reliant India, the scheme has seen over 300,000 registrations as of March 31, 2025.

So far, 28,000+ projects have been approved, with banks disbursing over Rs 1,000 crore to support young entrepreneurs in 2024–25 and 2025–26.

UP chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has directed District Magistrates and Chief Development Officers (CDOs) review banks with high numbers of pending applications.

He emphasised regular monitoring by all CDOs and instructed them to expedite the disposal process by holding frequent meetings of the Bankers’ Committee.

CM Yuva is a flagship initiative of the Yogi government aimed at providing self-employment opportunities to a million youth over the next 10 years.

The scheme focusses on promoting self-reliance through micro and small enterprises.

Eligible applicants, aged 21 to 40 years, with a minimum qualification of Class 8 and a skill training certificate, can receive interest-free, unsecured loans of up to Rs 5 lakh.

In addition, beneficiaries will also receive a 10 percent margin money grant.
