Making an impact on the manufacturing sector, Uttar Pradesh continues to clock robust growth in the factories index.
In UP, the registered factories’ count posted a 40 percent growth in two years from 19,100 in 2022-23 to nearly 27,000 in the current financial year 2024-25.
The state witnessed a significant hike of nearly 14,000 in registered factories across different industries during the past eight years of the Yogi Adityanath government (2017-present).
At present, there are 26,915 registered factories operating across the state.
Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP are chart toppers in terms of the number of factories in India.
The Yogi government is bullish on the manufacturing domain to achieve its $trilion economy target and creating job opportunities.
The number of registered factories in UP increased from about 10,555 in 2011-12 to about 14,350 in 2019-20.
According to the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2022-23, UP ranked 4th in terms of number of factories with a count of about 19,100 then.
To promote industries, the UP government has tweaked and liberalised labour and factory norms, while making processes online to expedite permits and usher in transparency.
Such measures include allowing women employees to work in the night shift with certain conditions.
