Japan will provide Uttar Pradesh with the latest green hydrogen technology to boost its green energy roadmap.
With a strong push toward energy self-reliance, the Yogi Adityanath government is advancing green hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives.
Recently, a high-level UP delegation visited Japan to explore partnerships in the green hydrogen domain.
Japan has agreed to set up a Center of Excellence (CoE) for green hydrogen in UP.
The delegation explored next-gen technologies as used in hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, Toyota Mirai, which runs by combining hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water as a byproduct.
Such technologies align with UP’s vision for a zero-emission transport policy.
The discussions also covered potential collaborations in green hydrogen production and energy innovation.
The Director of UPNEDA emphasised the need to deepen partnerships with global institutions to boost renewable energy generation in the state, especially through solar, hydro and biomass-based power solutions.
The delegation visited advanced facilities in Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture, including the NESRAD Green Hydrogen Plant, the Suntory Hakushu Distillery — home to a power-to-gas technology plant — and the Hydrogen Research Center.
These research-oriented visits will enable UP to adopt international best practices and innovative technologies.
