To discuss the health sector imperatives in Uttar Pradesh, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised the 7th edition of UP Health Summit ‘Swasth Bharat, Samarth Bharat: Together for a Healthier Future’ yesterday in Lucknow.

The summit was attended by policymakers, healthcare professionals, and innovators to discuss the future of healthcare in UP.

Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, the chief guest, said over the past seven years, UP has witnessed historic progress in healthcare – from establishing 17 new medical colleges and strengthening rural health centres – to expanding super-specialty facilities.

“UP is committed to ensuring last-mile healthcare delivery through free primary care in rural areas, dedicated Jachha-Bachha Kendras for safe motherhood and child health, digital solutions like the Sanjeevani App, and a strengthened health workforce,” he added.

Ritu Maheshwari, secretary, UP department of Health & Family Welfare, said strengthening the state’s health ecosystem requires enhancing service delivery at primary and community health centres.

She highlighted that initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and FACTA are enabling digital interventions and data-driven monitoring, helping ensure timely and quality healthcare services for patients.

Over the past three years, more than 140 million ABHA IDs have been created, 68,000+ health facilities registered, 97,000+ health professionals trained, and close to 95 million ABHA-linked health records generated.

She emphasised up-skilling community health workers, improving infrastructure, and implementing innovative health technologies to ensure equitable and high-quality healthcare across the state.

Dr Upasana Arora, Chairperson, CII UP & UP Health Summit 2025 and Managing Director, Yashoda Super Specialty Hospitals, said UP is witnessing a healthcare transformation driven by government initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat expansion, digital health adoption, and new medical colleges, alongside private sector innovation and investment.

Emphasising that healthcare is not only a social priority but a driver of economic growth, she reaffirmed CII’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare ecosystem through policy advocacy, capacity building, and grassroots interventions, while calling for deeper collaboration among government, industry, and academia.

Dr Dharminder Nagar, Chairman CII Northern Region Committee on Healthcare & Managing Director, Paras Healthcare, highlighted the progress being made in UP with new medical colleges, digital health interventions, and Ayushman Bharat.

Nagar called for transparent, outcome-based public-private partnerships, stable long-term policies, and integrated hub-and-spoke networks to strengthen access, quality, and innovation.
