Nearly 1.2 million earthen lamps (diyas) will illuminate Kashi or Varanasi on the occasion of auspicious ‘Dev Deepawali’ on November 15.

Thousands of such lamps will be crafted from cow dung, highlighting a unique eco-friendly touch.

The Yogi Adityanath government has already declared ‘Dev Deepawali’ a provincial fair, enhancing its grandeur and spiritual significance.

In addition to the mesmerising display of lamps, a laser show depicting mythology and green fireworks will also captivate local residents as well as domestic and international tourists.

More than 1.2 million diyas will illuminate Kashi’s crescent-shaped ghats to bathe them in an ethereal glow.

They will light up over 84 ghats, ponds and water bodies in Kashi with active public participation.

Rajendra Kumar Rawat, UP tourism department deputy director, said almost 300,000 lamps will be made from cow dung.
