The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has partnered with the RMV Group to accelerate innovation in the fields of defence, firearms and automotive technology.
Under this agreement, three of the RMV Group Companies viz. Capital Airgun Manufacturing, RMV Machines and Tools Industry, and RVB Shorlube will establish R&D labs in the IIT Kanpur premises.
The agreement has been entered into with IIT Kanpur Research and Technology Park Foundation (brand name, Technopark@IITK).
RMV Group is a key player in precision component manufacturing for global OEMs and critical components for the Indian defense sector.
The partnership is anticipated to foster a mutually beneficial exchange, bolstering indigenous capabilities in precision manufacturing and advancing India’s technological self-reliance.
“We are also planning to establish a NABL-certified laboratory to meet the material testing requirements of both researchers and industry stakeholders,” RMV Group managing director Rajesh Bhatia said.
Established in 2015 with a mission to manufacture world-class defence assemblies in India, RMV Group of Companies has rapidly become a key player in the Indian defence ecosystem.
The group has collaborated extensively with both government and private institutions to design and produce critical components that serve as 100 percent substitutes for imports.
In 2023, RMV Group expanded into the sports airguns and firearms sector under its brand ‘Camstar,’ with a vision to create India’s most advanced product portfolio.
The brand’s R&D efforts are supported by a long-term partnership with IIT Kanpur, ensuring cutting-edge innovation. As part of its growth, Camstar Group has been awarded 2.5 hectares of land in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor to develop world-class military firearms and heavy artillery.
