C3iHub under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur today launched a cyber security vocational program in collaboration with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur and Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj Innovation Foundation (CSJMIF).
The initiative has an ambitious target of enrolling up to 50,000 students; making it a significant step towards fostering cybersecurity expertise in India.
The six-month program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of cybersecurity. It covers system security, malware analysis, network security, cryptography, and IoT security.
This is a completely online course providing students with both fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience. An integral part of the training is customised labs at every student’s desk through the Cyber Range.
It is designed to provide students with hands-on experience and industry-relevant knowledge, preparing them for successful careers in the cybersecurity domain.
C3iHub will provide Virtual Lab for course practical, technical help desk support for students, certification of participation/completion and final assessment results for all students.
Whereas, CSJMU is responsible to facilitate the smooth execution of the program, CSJMIF will provide a platform to run the Program.
IIT Kanpur diector Prof Manindra Agrawal said the program will help students develop a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity, expanding their knowledge to an advanced level of cybersecurity, which will make them future-ready.
Prof Vinay Pathak, Vice Chancellor, CSJMU, said it will equip them with the knowledge and expertise to tackle upcoming challenges in this critical domain.
Dr Tanima Hajra, COO and Interim CEO C3iHub, said the program aims to provide general awareness to students and also empower them with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape safely and securely.
C3iHub is a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) established at the IIT Kanpur, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.
C3iHub addresses cybersecurity of cyber-physical systems in its entirety. C3iHub detects security vulnerabilities in critical cyber-physical systems, develops security tools to address the vulnerabilities, nucleates start-ups and partners with industries to commercialise the security tools, and provides training to the next generation of cybersecurity researchers.
