Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate a Sufi art and music festival titled ‘Jahan-e-Khusrau 2025’ in the national capital.
The three-day programme, conceived by noted filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, the founder of Rumi Foundation that organises the Sufi fest, will be held from February 28 to March 2.
Ali expressed his gratitude to the PM for accepting the invitation to grace the inaugural day of the 25th anniversary of the three-day festival.
In his message, Modi remarked, “India is a land blessed with spirituality, art, and culture. For centuries, music has been an intrinsic part of the socio-cultural fabric of our day-to-day life. Deeply associated with spirituality and culture, it can elevate the mind and act as a rejuvenating and healing force.
“The participation of global artists, musicians, and dancers at the festival strongly resonates with the inclusive and all-encompassing worldview of our nation. May the melodious strains of soulful music build bridges of peace, harmony, and friendship between people, societies, and nations. May the Silver Jubilee edition of Jahan-e-Khusrau create abiding memories and be a huge success.”
His presence at this grand Silver Jubilee edition aligns perfectly with his vision of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ (Progress along with Heritage), emphasising the importance of preserving India’s rich spiritual and cultural traditions while embracing progress, Ali noted.
Meanwhile, Prasar Bharati chairman Navneet Sehgal said the public broadcaster was espousing the vision of the PM to promote the indigenous arts, culture and heritage of India through special programmes and broadcasts.
Marking 30 editions over 25 years, Jahan-e-Khusrau has evolved into a cultural movement, reviving and reimagining the mystical traditions of Rumi, Amir Khusrau, Baba Bulleh Shah, Lalleshwari, and other revered Sufi saints.
Ali said this Silver Jubilee edition is an invitation to rediscover the ‘timeless wisdom’ of Sufi traditions and to celebrate the harmony that binds us all.
This year’s festival themed ‘Unity in Diversity’ will host an enviable lineup of Sufi musicians, poets, and performers from across the globe including prominent Kathak exponent Manjari Chaturvedi.
The event will also feature The TEH Bazaar, a curated craft exhibition showcasing India’s finest heritage crafts, literary discussions, film screenings, and a Sufi-inspired culinary experience.
Since inception in 2000, Jahan-e-Khusrau has been a pioneering movement bridging geographical and cultural boundaries, bringing together varied mystical traditions.
Under the aegis of the Rumi Foundation, Jahan-e-Khusrau continues to be a beacon of India’s ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ vision – a world united through music, love and spiritual transcendence, Ali underlined.
