Uttar Pradesh estimates arrival of 100 million pilgrims during the forthcoming ‘Mauni Amavasya’ holy bathing ritual on January 28 and 29 at Prayagraj.

In the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025, the total congregation has been to the tune of 100 million already.

The state expects the total pilgrims’ count to breach 400 million during the entire Maha Kumbh Mela period from January 13 to February 26 against the total footfall of nearly 240 million at the Kumbh Mela 2029.

Meanwhile, the Mela administration is burning the midnight oil to ensure the safe and seamless movement of devotees during the Mauni Amavasya ‘Amrit Snan’ in Maha Kumbh 2025.

As the most important festival of Maha Kumbh, Mauni Amavasya is the focal point of the event’s arrangements.

The Yogi Adityanath government dexterously curated a 12-km ‘ghat’ (river bank) around the Sangam spot, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.

A gargantuan 4,000-hectare tent city has been created in Prayagraj for hosting the Maha Kumbh, and the area designated as a temporary 76th district of UP for effective management and administration, as is the tradition.
