After the grand celebration of Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, new possibilities are emerging in the sands of pious Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers!

While tens of millions of devotees took a holy dip in the sacred waters at Sangam, the local farmers are preparing to cultivate watermelon, cucumber and melon in the area.

Due to the region’s sandy soil and the pure waters at the Sangam, a bumper yield of zaid crops is expected.

This farming initiative will generate employment opportunities for the local youth.

On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, a record quantum of water has been released into Ganga and Yamuna, ensuring farmers do not face irrigation challenges.

Scientists confirm the sandy soil in the region is highly suitable for such crops.

With the economic boost from Maha Kumbh, new doors of opportunity are opening in agriculture.

The sowing has already begun for the farmers to reap a robut harvest even as the local scientists are guiding them with advanced techniques to enhance productivity.

According to Prayagraj-based horticulture scientist Dr Himanshu Singh, the sandy soil in the region is ideal for these crops.

The farmers can earn up to Rs 5 lakh monthly from these high-yield crops.

He said new packaging, transportation, and marketing opportunities are emerging alongside farming, which will further strengthen the local economy.

Maha Kumbh has elevated the economy of Prayagraj and the entire state to new heights.
