Mukhtarul Amin, one of India’s leading leather sector players, has been selected as the Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) – North India.
Amin is also on the Board of Directors of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and National Skill Development Corporation – International.
He is also a member of the ICC Expert Committee on Leather.
ICC has 11 offices in Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Siliguri and Agartala.
It also has 27 international representative offices viz. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Greece, Italy, UK, Mauritius, Indonesia, New Zealand, USA, Latin America, France, Canada, Kuwait etc.
Founded in 1925, the ICC is headquartered in Kolkata. It is a premier body of trade and industry in eastern and northeastern India.
Meanwhile, Amin is also the Chairman of Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC), a non-profit organisation. It was established in 2012.
Earlier, Amin was the Chairman of Council for Leather Exports (CLE) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India (GoI).
He has also served as Chairman of the Footwear Designing and Development Institute (FDDI) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Under his tenure, three new campuses of FDDI were launched in Rajasthan, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
