In the backdrop of a steep tariff hike by private telcos, public sector telecom major BSNL continues to gain market traction in the highly competitive and price-sensitive sector.
In July 2024, BSNL added nearly 0.65 million (6.5 lakh) new subscribers in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle.
According to BNSL UP (E) principal general manager Rajesh Kumar, the company is also gaining the trust of people owing to its fast rollout of the 4G services.
Now, the UP (E) circle has more than 2.6 million telecom subscribers, which is witnessing a rapid uptick on a daily basis on account of new subscribers and port-ins from private players.
In June 2024, BSNL had added about 70,000 new subscribers in the circle, a number which swelled manifold to 650,000 in the successive month of July 2024.
Lucknow alone added 60,000 new telecom subscribers to the BSNL kitty in July 2024, Kumar informed. Now, Lucknow has a total of nearly half-million BSNL subscribers.
Meanwhile, the BSNL is briskly upgrading its telecom infra in the country to offer superior and highspeed data services.
The company is also holding camps to allow people to avail of a bouquet of telecom consumer services near their doorsteps including changing defunct SIM cards, port-ins, upgrading to 4G SIM cards etc.
