Amplifying the private sector education bandwidth, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the proposal to establish the Chandigarh University (CU) campus in Unnao district.
UP higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay today formally handed over the authorisation letter for its establishment to the representatives of the CU International Educational Trust.
The varsity’s proposal had already been okayed by the UP cabinet earlier. The CU campus will be located along the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, benefitting students from Unnao and the nearby districts.
Upadhyay said the Yogi Adityanath government is committed to enhancing and expanding the scope of higher education in UP.
“The establishment of Chandigarh University will drive competition and raise the standards of higher education, opening up better employment opportunities for the youth,” he observed.
This state-of-the-art institution will equip students to compete on national and international stages, positioning itself as a hub of higher education in UP.
A notification issued by UP special secretary Girijesh Kumar Tyagi on Sep 19, 2024, addressed to the secretary/chairman of CU International Educational Trust, confirmed the inclusion of the varsity under the private sector at number 45 in Schedule-2 of the UP Private University Act, 2019, as per the UP Private University (Seventh Amendment) Ordinance, 2024.
The notification grants official recognition to CU Unnao, and permits its operation under the conditions outlined in the authorisation letter.
